      Children's Unveils Bronze Statue in Honor of 100 years

      A bronze statue, commissioned by the Crow Family, depicting Nurse May Smith, who had the foresight and resolve to found Children’s Medical Center, a physician and three small children was recently unveiled on the Old Parkland Campus.

    ALLIANCE DATA PLEDGES $1 MILLION IN HONOR OF
    CHILDREN’S MEDICAL CENTER DALLAS CENTENNIAL

  • DALLAS – Friday, April 19 – Alliance Data, a Plano-based leading provider of loyalty and marketing solutions, pledged a $1 million gift to Children’s Medical Center in honor of Children’s 100 years of making life better for the children. The company will also be the presenting sponsor of Children’s Medical Center’s “Celebration of Our Century” gala, which be held Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Omni Dallas Hotel.

    Over the past 10 years, Alliance Data and Children’s Medical Center have created a mutually beneficial relationship fueled by the company’s dedication to helping Children’s further its mission to make life better for children. The unique skills and experience dedicated to treating children, combined with the relentless pursuit, discovery and application of new knowledge for each child served , enables Children’s to provide the most advanced and comprehensive health care to the patients they serve, not only from North Texas, but many who often travel to Children’s from across the country and around the world.

    This $1 million commitment supports the growing needs of Children’s and its programs to ensure that level of advanced, nationally recognized care will continue. Specifically, this donation supports, not only the continued growth of the Children’s Legacy campus, but programs such as the Children’s Injury Prevention Program and the Child Life Program. Alliance Data and their associates also participate in community events benefiting Children’s such as the Children's Medical Center Holiday Parade and the Red Balloon Run & Ride.

    “Our associates have told us advocacy for children is an area in which they want our company to focus our giving back efforts, which is just one of the many reasons for our longstanding relationship with Children’s Medical Center,” said Ed Heffernan, president and chief executive officer of Alliance Data and Children’s Medical Center board member. “Children’s Medical Center has such a deep-rooted, rich history here in Dallas, and as our city’s population continues to grow, so does the need for an outstanding pediatric hospital in our own backyard. We are honored to help them celebrate this momentous milestone and help them continue to give our children the best care possible.”

    As presenting sponsor of Children’s centennial celebration, Alliance Data will participate in a number of special events throughout the year. One of these events was the unveiling of a commemorative statue at the site where Children’s got its humble start in four borrowed tents on Old Parkland’s campus. The bronze statue, commissioned by the Crow Family, depicts Nurse May Smith, who had the foresight and resolve to found Children’s, a physician and three small children.
